Keys for Carex and Deciduous Trees and Shrubs in Winter
Need a helpful key for identifying Carex species of Northwest Washington? Or a winter key for native deciduous trees and shrubs? Try out these useful keys created by Koma Kulshan chapter members Al Hanners and Vikki Jackson.
Native Plants for Native Pollinators
Wondering what native plants to grow in larger areas (not home gardens), such as farm hedgerows, community parks, restoration areas, roadsides, and other habitats where native plants would be appropriate? All of these support bumble bees, important native pollinators, and are well adapted to lowland Whatcom County locations.
Native Plant Lists for Selected Whatcom County Locations
Over many years WNPS members have been recording the plants they’ve found in parks, along trails, and in other locations around the state. Lists for every county in Washington are available on the Washington Native Plant Society state-wide website.
NOTE: Due to a ransomware attack, the lists are currently not available. They’ll be back, but we don’t know just when.
